Thailand: Toyota launches new LPG HEV taxi concept

Toyota unveiled the new LPG HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) Taxi Concept, which confirms the Japanese automaker’s vision of achieving carbon neutrality through multiple powertrains. The new vehicle was exhibited at the 44th Bangkok International Motor Show.

The LPG HEV Taxi Concept is a vehicle that has been designed specifically for use as a taxi. It features a unique yellow-green colour scheme, giving it a distinct identity for Thailand.

The vehicle has a high roof and is equipped with a large electric sliding door. The cabin is spacious and designed with a low flat floor to facilitate the use of ramps for wheelchairs. This feature makes it convenient for all passengers, especially the elderly and children, to enter and exit the cabin easily. It has also been created with a focus on comfort and minimising driver fatigue.

Furthermore, the taxi emphasises environmentally-friendly power. Like Toyota’s JPN Taxi, which was launched at the 45th Tokyo Motor Show 2017, the powertrain combines electric power with Autogas. More notably, the vehicle is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, providing peace of mind to everyone on board throughout the journey.

“As Mr. Toyoda reiterated the long-term commitment to challenge the Carbon Neutrality through multiple pathways strategy, Toyota will continue to introduce ‘ever-better’ mobility to meet diversified customer needs,” said Noriaki Yamashita, President of Toyota Motor Thailand.
