Last year, Canary Islands car hire company CICAR stopped generating 224 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere with the introduction of LPG-powered vehicles in 2014. This measure has been verified by the ACCM (Agency for the Certification of Quality and Environment), which has certified compliance with environmental management processes, meeting the requirements of the UNE-EN ISO 14001/2008 standards and have been audited last May.

In practice, the fleet of vehicles, with Opel and Fiat Autogas cars, CICAR has decreased the average ratio of CO2 emissions g/km at 2.44 g/km. This means that the company stops emitting more than 220 tons of CO2 per 20,000 kilometres travelled by the vehicle per year.

With this achievement CICAR shows it is highly sensitized to environmental management, ensuring security behaviour in the services provided and respect for the environment. The company also makes a reality its policy of improved quality and continuous fleet modernization.

The commitment made by the company in 2014 has brought such good results that they plan an extension in the near future.
