Spain: leading security company unveils green campaign and turns to LPG

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), polluted air kills approximately 7 million people worldwide each year; 9 out of 10 people breathe air that exceeds the recommended limits; and 70% of CO2 emissions come from transport.

In this regard, the global security company Securitas Direct, which has more than 8,500 professionals and a million and a half clients in Spain, is aware of the relevance that the impact of its activity acquires on the environment and has launched the #MuéveteEnPositivo (move positively) campaign.

The company has been working for years on programmes to prevent and minimise the effects of transport and now officially presents its project with the signing of the letter of adhesion of the Spanish Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge to the EU Mobility Week.

Securitas Direct’s programme includes several mobility initiatives that seek to protect the environment. One of the main bets of the company has been the renewal of the commercial fleet with Autogas vehicles, which reduce NOx emissions by 68%, and particulate matter by 100% compared to conventional fuels. 30% of its fleet is now moving with this alternative fuel.

On the other hand, aware that its commercial fleet is one of the largest in Spain, the company has been giving its collaborators training courses in efficient driving in order to achieve low fuel consumption, reduce environmental pollution, increase driving comfort, and reduce the risk of accidents. Other actions are internal communications to raise awareness about the impact of transport on the environment and how to reduce it, actions and challenges on sustainable mobility, and the promotion of alternative energy vehicles within the company.

“Our goal is to continue protecting what matters most. And mobility does not have to be a negative thing; on the contrary, it is a challenge to do it positively and responsibly,” said Laura Gonzalvo, Director of Communication and CSR at Securitas Direct.
