Romania increases incentives for clean fuel vehicles

The Romanian Government will increase the car scrappage bonus to €1,500 (15%), announced the Minister of Environment Barna Tanczos. He also mentioned that buyers of alternative fuel vehicles will receive an additional incentive.

“We have two eco-bonuses that come on the top of the car scrappage bonus and support those who buy green cars. For hybrids, the eco bonus will be €600. In the case of cars with LPG or CNG systems, the bonus is €300,” he said.

The total budget for this scrappage programme (Programul Rabla Clasic) involves €90 million this year, covering between 55,000 to 60,000 beneficiaries, according to the minister.

Tanczos also announced that the budget for the Rabla Plus programme, the one dedicated to electric cars and plug-in hybrids, will increase too. Both schemes – Rabla Clasic and Rabla Plus – will start in the last week of April. For more information, please visit this link.
