Italy: New Ecobonus decree will encourage conversions to Autogas

The new Ecobonus decree, introduced by the Ministry for Business and Made in Italy (MIMIT) and recently signed by the Presidency of the Council, is expected to help convert vehicles to LPG and CNG with a total public investment of EUR 10 million.

The President of Assogasliquidi-Federchimica, Andrea Arzà, highlighted the importance of this initiative due to its environmental, social and economic-industrial benefits.

“Today we express gratitude to MIMIT for having introduced an incentive within the Ecobonus and we hope that the decree can be implemented quickly. This decision will benefit both numerous consumers who do not have the possibility of purchasing a new vehicle, despite the incentives for new registrations, and the Italian LPG industry, of which represents global excellence, and finally the entire sector, including the numerous workshops scattered throughout the national territory,” Arzà commented.

The decree provides for a total public investment of EUR 10 million to introduce incentives for conversions to LPG (EUR 400) and CNG (EUR 800) for vehicles already in circulation with engines from Euro 4 and above. These incentives will be available until the end of 2024 or until resources are exhausted.

According to local media, the resolution issued by the MIMIT, once signed by the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and evaluated by the Court of Auditors, will be made public and accompanied by administrative measures for its implementation via the Invitalia-MIMIT platform.
