Growing network of Autogas refuelling locations in Canada
There is a growing network of Autogas refuelling locations in Canada, with already 2,200 stations today, thanks in part to the availability of interactive, safe and easy-to-use refuelling dispensers. “School districts in particular are enjoying the reduced cost and emissions benefits of Autogas through the installation and intuitive use of dispensers,” said Derek Rimko, vice president of operations for Superior Energy Systems, manufacturer of alternative fuel dispensers.
Moreover, Canadian provider of LPG and related equipment Superior Propane said it is expanding its refuelling infrastructure by installing approximately 15 dispensers in five provinces with plans to add even more dispensers in 2019.
“We are committed to expanding refuelling infrastructure to make Autogas even more accessible to Canadians looking for a low-cost, low-emission fuel alternative,” said Rick Carron, vice president of sales for Superior Propane, which is not affiliated with Superior Energy Systems. “We have additional units on order, with multiple options available to fit our customer’s needs.”
This growing number of refuelling points is in part encouraged by the Canadian Alternative Fuels Act, which mandates that 75% of motor vehicles operated by all federal bodies and Crown corporations must operate on alternative fuels. According to the Canadian Propane Association, Canada is the world’s 10th largest producer of LPG, making the fuel readily available and economical.
Autogas has the largest refuelling infrastructure of any alternative fuel in Canada. For more information, please visit this link.
