Galician city of Gondomar expands municipal fleet with new Autogas truck

The City Council of Gondomar has acquired a new environmentally-friendly vehicle, which will be used for the municipal composting programme, as well as to meet the needs of any other department that requires it. The cost of the truck is 40,000 euros, which is being mostly financed through the environmental compensation funds 2021 of the Galician Ministry of the Environment and Housing.

The vehicle is a DFSK light truck with a self-loading crane and is equipped with an LPG bi-fuel system with a range of 300 kilometres. Labelled with the Spanish ECO badge, it is a clear sustainable mobility option that will allow Gondomar staff reach any area of the municipality.

Its self-loading crane will facilitate the loading and unloading of vegetable and organic material, as well as containers and other elements. It has an extensible base, two hydraulic stabilisers, a working height of 4.50 metres and a maximum load of 2,300 kilos, among other features.

“Gondomar continues to take steps in the fight against climate change. We want to be a benchmark for sustainability in the province and in Galicia. We have added this new eco-vehicle to the mobile fleet, which will allow us to move forward with the composting and recycling work launched in this administration,” said the Mayor of Gondomar Paco Ferreira.
