Exhibition of Autogas vehicles takes place in the centre of Madrid

From 15 to 17 June, Autogas vehicles and technologies were exhibited on the Plaza de Colon in Madrid, to raise the awareness of the general public on the latest developments in terms of sustainable mobility. It included a car testing zone, where visitors could try the cars and receive practical information on LPG models available or the conversion to LPG. It also hosted several activities aimed at promoting the benefits of using this fuel, both from the economic and environmental point of view, to power mobility.

Earlier in the week, the AOGLP (Spanish Association of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Operators) and the Autogas Cluster have organised the second Autogas Forum. The event was attended by government authorities, automakers, energy companies, workshops and equipment suppliers, which shared their experience. The regional government was represented by Javier Abajo, General Director of Industry, Energy and Mines of the Community of Madrid; while on behalf of the local administration Paz Valiente, General Coordinator of Environment and Sustainability and Mobility of the City of Madrid, offered a municipal vision on the use of Autogas in the cities.

Attended by more than 150 people, the Forum has also revealed the current development of the market, which is in constant growth, and very promising for the future.

The registrations of new Autogas vehicles stood at 5,675 units between January and May of this year, which means that the figures have multiplied by more than five compared to the same period of 2017, according to data from the General Direction of Transport (DGT) collected by the Autogas Cluster. “This impressive boost in the registration of vehicles responds to the reality of a clean, safe and available technology, which is the basis of future sustainable mobility,” said Jaime Fernandez, president of the Autogas Cluster, during the Forum.

For José Luis Blanco, general director of the Autogas Cluster, the DGT’s ECO labelling is one of the main factors that have contributed to the important increase of new Autogas vehicles in the streets.

The data also showed that Dacia, Fiat and Opel accumulate 89% of the new registrations of Autogas vehicles so far in 2018, with Dacia leading sales with 2,007 vehicles, 35% of the total. For more information, please visit this link.
