European Regional Development Fund supports alternative fuel adoption in Spain

The Spanish Castilla-La Mancha Council of Economy, Business and Employment has announced a new public aid (Order 75/2018), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund, aimed at improving energy efficiency through the use of efficient new vehicles and the conversion to alternative fuels.

The purpose of these subsidies is to achieve a substantial improvement in the energy efficiency and savings in the transport sector, encouraging the acquisition of new alternative fuel vehicles, as well as the use of alternative fuels through the transformation or conversion of existing engines powered by conventional fuels (gasoline or diesel) to systems based on Autogas, CNG or LNG.

Private companies and individual entrepreneurs, as well as private individuals can receive the grant, and eligible vehicles include cars, vans, buses and trucks.

For categories M1 (passenger cars), N1 (vans or light duty vehicles), L6e (light quadricycles) and L7e (heavy duty quadricycles), the recipients will get 2,000 euros per new LPG-powered vehicle. If the Autogas vehicle purchased belongs to categories N2 (trucks between 3.5 and 12 tonnes), N3 (trucks of over 12 tonnes), M2 (buses and coaches of less than 5 tonnes) and M3 (buses and coaches of over 5 tonnes), drivers will receive 15,000 euros per unit.

Regarding the conversion of existing vehicles to Autogas, the programme will award 800 euros for the categories M1 and N1 per unit converted, while categories M2 and M3 will get 7,500 euros. The aid limit for all categories will be 50% of the cost of the conversion. For more information, please check this link.
