Autogas present at Dakar 2022 with Spanish innovative truck

The KH-7 Epsilon team has worked intensively during 2021 on modifying the engine of the MAN 6×6 truck that has been accompanying them in recent years. The veteran drivers Jordi Juvanteny and José Luis Criado will be joined by Jordi Ballbé, all from Spain, to try to make history and complete the 44th edition of the legendary Dakar Rally, taking place on 1-14 January 2022, in a truck equipped with a propulsion system powered by LPG and by an eco-fuel developed by Repsol.

After their extraordinary performance in 2021, where they managed to finish in the 15th position of the general classification and win the 6×6 and Production categories, Juvanteny and Criado have clear objectives: to remain competitive, enjoy a new experience in the Saudi desert and contribute to the fight against climate change.

“This year we return again with the MAN 6×6 truck with which we won the Production category and the 6×6 trophy in the 2021 edition. It is a very experienced truck, with many kilometres behind it, but this time it has an important novelty. Thanks to Repsol’s technology and collaboration, we have managed to adapt the engine with the EVARM’s dual hybrid system, which combines a 100% renewable eco-fuel [HVO by Repsol] with LPG,” said Juvanteny.

“Every year we have a new incentive and this is very important to us, as we have adapted the truck to make it more sustainable. We are looking forward to finishing the Dakar with this new drive and doing our best. This event is undoubtedly the best test bench due to its extreme conditions, which helps us to extract learnings and then transfer them to the day to day and together contribute our little grain of sand to save the planet,” commented Criado.
