The Malaga Association of Taxi Drivers (AUMAT) has signed an agreement with Gasmoción, manufacturer and distributor of LPG kits, for the conversion of its associates’ vehicles to Autogas. The goal it that more taxis associated with AUMAT can obtain the ECO label, save on fuel costs, reduce polluting emissions and achieve sustainable mobility, and with full guarantees.

Gasmoción detailed that its associated workshop Tecno Autogas, located just 5 minutes from the AUMAT hub, will facilitate the conversion process. “The experience of the Tecno Autogas workshop in adapting vehicles to LPG, added to the quality guarantee of Gasmoción’s LPG kits, are key factors to guarantee the success of the conversions,” they said, and added that the technology installed is from leading companies such as Westport and Zavoli.

Javier Navarro, CEO of Gasmoción, commented: “This agreement is key to uniting the strengths of different companies involved in sustainable mobility and helping all vehicles in the taxi sector to make people’s lives easier in Andalusia, while reducing polluting emissions. We also demand the need for greater institutional collaboration by city councils to promote all alternatives that encourage the reduction of polluting emissions in large cities.”

Moreover, Miguel Ángel Martín, President of AUMAT, stated: “At AUMAT we are committed to the use of sustainable energy through which we reduce the carbon footprint by a total of 3,000 metric tonnrs of CO2 into the atmosphere, which is equivalent to a total of 15,000 trees planted in 5 years. We hope that the Malaga City Council will collaborate with the taxi sector in such a project, helping us to convert our vehicles to LPG with some kind of aid or subsidy.”

Finally, Alejandro Segado, from Tecno Autogas, explained: “At Tecno Autogas we have many years of experience converting vehicles to LPG with the help of the leading companies in this field in Spain. Experience has allowed us to see that conversion to LPG is essential for sectors such as the taxi sector, and we consider it very important that all possible facilities are provided in this direction.”
