Turkey leads Autogas consumption in Europe

Turkey leads Autogas consumption in Europe, while ranks second in the world. 80% of all LPG consumed throughout the country is used as Autogas. In addition, Turkey is the only country that has more LPG vehicles more than gasoline-powered vehicles.

In Turkey, the number of LPG vehicles in operation is close to 5 million. And it is expected that the use of Autogas vehicles increases by 50% if a change in the legislation -result of the work carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization and the Ministry of Industry and Technology- takes place: the amendment involves the access to parking garages and the reduction of Motor Vehicle Tax (MTV) for LPG vehicles.

“Turkish Autogas consumption has been a source of inspiration to other countries. We rank first in Europe. We are also the world’s second largest market in the Autogas segment with our 3,283,170 tonne volume. This is a size that cannot be ignored. Currently, LPG has important benefits for Turkey’s economy. On the other hand, I can say very easily that these figures will be folded if the obstacles preventing the entry of LPG vehicles into closed parking lots are removed and the incentives to be awarded by the government become a reality,” said Kadir Örücü, Chairman of BRC Turkey.

BRC works with world’s leading automobile manufacturers in the production of Autogas vehicles. Equipped with BRC products, the world giants that offer LPG-powered vehicles from factory include Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Audi, Volkswagen, Peugeot, Chevrolet, Citroen, Ford, Fiat, Honda, Kia, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Suzuki, and Daihatsu.
