Texas announces new rebate for clean fuel light duty vehicle adoption

The Texas Light-Duty Motor Vehicle Purchase or Lease Incentive Programme (LDPLIP) will provide rebate incentives state-wide to persons who purchase or lease an eligible new light-duty motor vehicle (10,000 pounds or less ) powered by Autogas, CNG, hydrogen fuel cells, or electric drives (plug-in or plug-in hybrid). Only vehicles purchased in Texas are eligible for the incentive.

A total of $7.7 million is available for all light-duty vehicle grants, and the programme includes a limit of 1,000 rebates to be made available for LPG and CNG grants.

Autogas vehicles qualify for a rebate of $5,000 in case of new purchases or longer-term leases. Leases that are 2-3 years in duration qualify for $3,330, and 1-2 year lease qualifies for $1,665.  Converted vehicles qualify if converted within 500 miles of operation after first sale.
