Spanish government extends fuel incentives for fleets, more aids for clean vehicles

The Spanish Government decided to extend the fuel bonus for the professional road transport sector until 31 December 2023. Taxi drivers will also benefit from this aid, and the amount will depend on the type of fuel in the vehicle.

In the case of heavy good vehicles with a maximum authorised mass of ≥ 7.5 tonnes and running on LPG, CNG or LNG, they will received 1,845 euros, while the same vehicle powered by diesel and domiciled in the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla will get 1,350 euros. The same kind of truck driven by any type of fuel will obtain 500 euros.

In the case of taxis running on LPG, CNG or LNG fuel, they will receive a direct aid of 205 euros. Meanwhile, for gasoline and diesel taxis or for those that do not have a taximeter, the aid will be 150 euros.

Finally, urban buses in accordance with the classification by use criteria of the General Regulation of Vehicles and powered by LPG, CNG or LNG will receive 1.025 euros, while the same bus running on diesel fuel and domiciled in the Canary Islands, Ceuta or Melilla will get 750 euros.

This direct aid system is intended for companies and self-employed workers who do not benefit from the return of professional diesel. Beneficiaries must apply for aid through the electronic headquarters of the State Tax Administration Agency between September 18 and October 31, 2023, which, once approved, will be paid in a single payment.

As explained by the Government, the bonus is calculated by estimating consumption, by type of vehicle, in a period of six months from July 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023.
