Spanish car rental company bets on eco-friendly fleet, adds 200 Autogas vehicles

Europcar Mobility Group Spain has signed an agreement with Opel and Repsol to incorporate 200 LPG-powered cars to its Madrid and Barcelona fleets. The initiative is part of the company’s ‘2019 ECO Plan,’ which will help it double the number of alternative fuel vehicles.

The 200 Opel Corsa and Mokka X cars will be destined to eco-conscious customers who travel many kilometres per day and also need an ECO-labelled vehicle to enter urban centres without restrictions to the circulation and parking. The cars will be able to refuel at Repsol Autogas stations with discounts and benefits.

“This agreement has a priority: our fleet needs to be increasingly respectful of people and the environment,” said Tobias Zisik, CEO of Europcar Mobility Group Spain. “It is part of a plan with which we are going to double our green fleet during this year with economic alternatives that allow greater range to our customers while reducing pollution in our cities.”

“Opel is the benchmark in the market for Autogas vehicles,” commented Jorge Tomé, Opel General Commercial Director for Spain and Portugal. “Opel has a great advantage over most manufacturers, since the LPG system is factory-made.”

There are 600 LPG stations spread throughout the territory, 400 of them from Repsol. “With this network, you can cross Spain from end to end only with this fuel. It also meets the needs of a vehicle fleet four times greater than the one existing today,” added Estíbaliz Pombo, responsible of Repsol Autogas.
