Spain: Rhenus Group debuts alternative fuel fleet, including a renewable Liquid Gas truck

Logistics solutions provider, Rhenus Group, announced its trial of a renewable Liquid Gas truck in Andalusia and an electric vehicle in Madrid. The goal being to test the viability of alternative fuel vehicles in these regions and traffic segments.

The company described the initiative “as a new step to advance its commitment to the sustainability and decarbonisation of its vehicle fleet.”

The truck that Rhenus has rolled out in Andalusia, is a Scania vehicle adapted for the use of dual fuel technology, which allows the operation of diesel and Autogas, and is being powered by renewable Liquid Gas. The truck will serve Carrier, a company specialised in heating, air conditioning and refrigeration solutions, at its production plant in Montilla (Córdoba).

The results obtained after the trial will be taken as a reference to analyse key variables such as range, performance on certain distribution routes or more technical aspects, such as their viability in different terrain.

“These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to innovation and reflect our desire to improve environmental performance in the logistics sector. The implementation of these vehicles in two very different traffic segments will allow us to draw valuable conclusions to scale our commitment to more advanced technologies in mobility,” said Andreu Gutiérrez, Country Sales Director of Rhenus Logistics in Spain.
