Spain: Repsol invests in Autogas conversions

Repsol and Confortauto have signed an agreement to increase Spain’s conversion capacity to Autogas. With the support of the Spanish energy company, the workshop network is now adapting cars to LPG bi-fuel technology; it has added this service at 110 of its facilities distributed throughout the national territory.

According to both companies, the conversion investment is payed off in between 50,000 and 60,000 kilometres.

This agreement plans to meet the growing demand of alternative fuel vehicles in Spain, as more and more drivers are interested in obtaining the ECO label of the DGT (General Direction of Transport). Among other advantages, this label allows vehicles (powered by LPG, CNG or hybrids) to circulate even in the period of restrictions due to high pollution in the main Spanish cities.

ECO labelled-Autogas vehicles also allow the reduction of NOx emissions by 68% and particles by 100%, according to data of the Spanish Association of LPG. They also reduce CO2 emissions by 14% and minimise noise levels by 50%. For more information, please visit this link.
