Spain: Murcia offers incentives to taxi drivers that acquire eco and zero vehicles

The Governing Board of Murcia has given the go-ahead to the resolution of the call for subsidies for the acquisition of eco and zero emissions taxis and has allocated a total amount of 115,321.29 euros.

A total of 22 taxi drivers will receive aid for the purchase of clean energy vehicles, including Autogas cars, which are entitled to the ECO label from the Spanish Directorate-General for Traffic (DGT).

With this initiative, the Murcia City Council intends to gradually renew the fleet of vehicles for the taxi service, with the benefits that the use of cleaner and less polluting cars entails for the municipality.

Taxi drivers will receive a maximum of 7,000 euros for the acquisition of zero emission vehicles such as EVs, 6,000 euros for hybrid vehicles, and 3,000 euros for LPG or CNG-powered vehicles.

The requirements to access these aids are: being the holder of the taxi license, and being registered in the municipality of Murcia or to carry out their activity exclusively in Murcia. For more information, please check this link.
