Spain: Autogas vehicle sales increase 250% in the last 5 years

The savings of up to 50% compared to conventional fuels, the autonomy of the vehicles that exceeds 1,200 km, environmental awareness and the fact of having the Spanish DGT’s ECO label are making many customers consider Autogas, which ensures sustainable mobility in every way. With its ECO-G LPG vehicle range, Dacia offers an economical, ecological and accessible solution, while contributing to decarbonisation of transport.

Its wide range of LPG-powered models has made Dacia the leader in this technology with half a million units sold worldwide and almost 50,000 Autogas vehicles in Spain, leading the national market since 2017. With a market share of 86% in the first half of 2022, Dacia remains firmly at the top of the LPG car market. Today, some 28 million LPG vehicles circulate on roads around the world and more than 150,000 units in Spain. In Europe, the Autogas market has grown by 35% and in Spain by 250%.

The success of the ECO-G engine is very important within the brand, as evidenced by the fact that today more than two out of three Dacia customers choose this LPG engine at the time of purchase.

“Dacia is committed to LPG technology, offering our customers a full range of vehicles and very attractive benefits. Almost 50,000 customers have opted for this technology, which confirms that it is an eco-intelligent solution. Dacia responds to new consumer trends, betting on the essential and responding to the needs of its customers. By choosing Dacia, you don’t give up anything and you get the essentials at a fair price,” said Francisco Hidalgo, General Manager, Dacia Iberia.

“Our alliance with Dacia demonstrates Repsol’s commitment to Autogas and helps us continue to position the fuel as a real alternative for mobility. In addition, it reinforces our position as a multi-energy company, a leader in mobility and focused on the goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050,” commented Estíbaliz Pombo, Manager of Energy Products at Repsol.

Repsol leads the Autogas supply market in Spain, with more than 415 LPG service stations, out of a total of more than 800 that offer this ecological fuel in the country. For more information, please check this link.
