New medium-duty truck with 8.8-litre LPG engine launched in the U.S.

Power Solutions International Inc. has teamed up with Freightliner Custom Chassis Corp. (FCCC) to showcase the new S2G Work Truck 8.8-litre Autogas engine during the Work Truck Show in Indianapolis. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) emission-certified engine is part of FCCC’s DriveForce non-diesel engine line.

Providing 270 HP at 2,600 RPM and 565 lb.-ft of torque at 1,500 RPM, the engine provides uncompromised power and performance, maximum fuel efficiency and fuel flexibility to FCCC’s medium-duty truck chassis. This chassis is designed for commercial market applications including pickup and delivery, student transportation and municipal applications.

“PSI’s 8.8-litre LPG engine is a clean-burning, purpose-built engine that offers the torque and power of a diesel engine at near-idle RPM levels,” PSI’s CEO John Miller said. “We are very excited that our engine is a part of FCCC’s medium duty truck line and we look forward to working together.”

The new engine powers the 2020 model year of FCCC’s S2G work truck vehicle, which pairs FCCC’s popular S2 chassis with a factory-installed Autogas engine. The S2G has a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of 33,000 pounds and offers fleet owners lower operational costs and reduced emissions while providing high performance and payload capacity.
