New LPG refuelling station opens on Fiji major corridor

Fiji Gas announced the opening of a new Autogas station in Nakasi, in southern Fiji. According to the company, “investing in clean auto fuel is vital to helping the country lower its carbon footprint.” With this new location, they hope to encourage more Fijians to transition to cleaner alternatives.

This is Fiji Gas’ 20th LPG station and is located at the Rars Service Station in Waidamudamu, in Nakasi. So far, company has invested over FJD 3 million (USD 1,3 million) in Autogas refuelling infrastructure throughout the country.

Chief Executive of Fiji Gas Hans Reiher explained that, due to the population size in the Suva/Nausori corridor, they decided to invest in this service station.

“If you look at this corridor, Nausori to Suva, a lot of people travel to the airport, there’s a large population based in this corridor, so we noticed there’s a lot of taxis going up and down,” he commented.

Reiher also highlighted the environmental benefits of Autogas vehicles: “Emitting 20% less carbon and with a significant reduction in black exhaust soot, LPG as a fuel for vehicles just makes sense for our health and the health of our environment.”
