Italy: 10,000 clean fuel vehicles available to renew public administration’s fleets
The Italian Minister of Ecological Transition Roberto Cingolani has signed a document that regulates the “Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) for the purchase, leasing and rental of vehicles used for road transport.” The document transposes the European directive which requires Member States to ensure, through contracting authorities, the promotion of a market for clean and energy-efficient vehicles.
For Italy, there is an obligation to purchase or rent clean fuel vehicles, according to the following: 38.5% by 2025 and 2030 for light vehicles; 10% by 2025 and 15% by 2030 for trucks; and 45% by 2025 and 65% by 2030 for buses.
In this regard, the Consip (company held by the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance) has launched new initiatives for the automotive sector that represent a solution immediately available to the Public Administration’s entities to support them in compliance with the new CAM, offering a wide choice of low environmental impact vehicles for the green renewal of their fleets.
In fact, of the over 18,000 vehicles made available to the public administration through these initiatives, almost 10,000 are powered by clean fuels. Administrations can now choose to procure bi-fuel petrol/LPG or petrol/CNG vehicles, as wells hybrids and electrics. For more information, please visit this link.
