Italian regional council offers incentives to switch to alternative fuel vehicles

After promoting the initiative in 2017, the Regional Council of Veneto has proposed a call for bids in 2018 for those who decide to buy new vehicles and scrap their old polluting cars.

“After having satisfied all the requests received last year, we have approved a new call for proposals for the current year to offer 500,000 euro in bonus for the scrapping of polluting vehicles and their replacement with newly registered vehicles with low environmental impact,” said Environment Commissioner Gianpaolo Bottacin.

For scrapping cars under the Euro 0 and Euro 1 or diesel Euro 0, Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3 standards, beneficiaries will receive an incentive depending on the type of new vehicle purchased. The bonus will be 2,000 euros for bi-fuel vehicles (including petrol/Autogas technology) that comply with Euro 6 standard, and 3,500 for electric or hybrid vehicles.

“To make it easier for those who need it most, when we prepared the call, we also wanted to take into account the economic situation of the beneficiaries, offering a priority for the lower income population,” explained the commissioner.

“With these additional allocations, with which we are awarding over 1.3 million euro for the scrapping of cars within just a few months, we continue our policy for the protection of the air and the environment,” added Bottacin.

The applications will be received beginning on 31 July 2018 on a first come first serve basis, until the financial resources are exhausted. If you want to know more, please visit this link.
