Germany: Renault Clio and Captur available again with Autogas option
Renault Deutschland announced the Clio and the Captur models are available again with the LPG engine TCe 100. With a bi-fuel propulsion, these cars can run on both petrol and LPG, offering a number of benefits when using the last one. In addition to fuel costs that are currently almost 40% lower than petrol, Autogas offers reduced CO2 emissions without losing performance.
The Clio TCe 100 LPG has a combined total consumption of 7.0 l/100 km [5.4 l/100 km], and combined CO2 emissions of 109 g/km [122 g/km]; while the Captur TCe 100 LPG has a combined total consumption of 7.97.7 l/100 km [6.1-6.0 l/100km] and combined CO2 emissions of 123-120 g/km [139-136 g /km], values according to WLTP.
Renault offers the Clio and Captur TCe 100 LPG at prices starting at 20,800 and 24,550 euros respectively. This makes them no more expensive than the Clio TCe 90 (combined total consumption: 5.3-5.2 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 121-118 g/km) and the Captur TCe 90 (combined total consumption: 6 .0-5.8 l/100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 136–131 g/km) with only petrol operation.
For the Clio TCe 100 LPG, the fuel costs are reduced by up to 350 euros for a mileage of 20,000 kilometres per year thanks to the lower price of Autogas. With the Captur TCe 100 LPG, drivers can save up to 400 euros. The calculation is based on the price of premium petrol (1.77 euros per litre) and LPG (1.09 euros per litre).
In addition to the 39-litre (Clio) or 48-litre (Captur) petrol tank, these models have an LPG tank made of high-strength steel, located in the spare wheel space, with a capacity of 32 litres (Clio) or 40 litres (Captur). Depending on the model, the two fuel tanks together enable a range of at least 1,000 kilometres (1,000 kilometres for the Clio TCe 100 LPG and 1,100 kilometres for the Captur TCe 100 LPG), enough to drive from Hamburg to Zurich without refuelling.
Moreover, customers benefit from the same reliability as with conventionally powered vehicles: Renault offers maintenance at its solid service network and the unrestricted manufacturer’s guarantee of two years with unlimited kilometres.
