French president announces alternative fuel incentives

Last month, Emmanuel Macron unveiled a large recovery plan for the automotive sector, including aids to promote the conversion or purchase of clean vehicles. To receive this incentives, drivers must purchase a new or used cleaner car and also scrap an old vehicle. To facilitate access to this bonus, the scope of vehicles eligible for scrapping has also been extended to vehicles classified as Crit’Air 3 (Euro 4).

In this case, vehicle conversions to Autogas will benefit from this initiative. From 1 June until 31 December 2020, drivers switching a new or used vehicle to LPG will be able to get a conversion bonus of 3,000 Euros.

In France, all Autogas vehicles are classified with the Crit’Air 1 sticker (gas and rechargeable hybrid vehicles), and therefore are not subject to any traffic restriction in major cities in the event of a pollution peak.
