France: Autogas vehicle registration increased more than 40% since the start of 2023

Since the start of the year, the number of LPG-powered vehicles registered in France has increased by +40.8%, according to a new report from France Gaz Liquides. The association also informed that, in July, Autogas has an average price of EUR 0.98 per litre at the pump.

In addition, the distribution of LPG fuel in service stations was 9,000 tonnes in July 2023. Since the start of the year it has increased by +28% compared to the same period in 2022.

Regarding new Autogas vehicles, there were 4,886 units registered in July, increasing by 52% compared to July 2022 and representing a market share by energy of 3.8%. In total, since the start of the year, 38,903 LPG-powered vehicles have been put on the road (versus 27,639 units at the same period in 2022, or +40.8%).

As for second-hand market, 2,359 used Autogas vehicles were registered in July, i.e. +18.13% compared to July 2022.

Moreover, the price of LPG remains stable and low: its price has fluctuated between EUR 0.96 and 0.98 per litre on average since January. “Thanks to a price of less than EUR 1 per litre all year round, the fuel allows you to reduce your fuel budget by more than 35% compared to gasoline and diesel,” noted France Gaz Liquides.

The availability of LPG also remains guaranteed In France. Drivers can refuel anywhere in 2 minutes at the more than 1,500 Autogas service stations available throughout the country (one every seven stations).
