France: Autogas car sales increase 40% in 2023

Below the euro per litre, LPG remains a more affordable fuel than gasoline, diesel or even E85 bioethanol. And customers are well aware of this advantage. This is evidenced by the sharp increase in sales of cars using Autogas in France since the start of the year.

Nearly 53,000 Autogas vehicles were delivered since the start of 2023. Even though the figure remains little, this is an increase of almost 40% compared to the same period last year.

The Renault Group (with Dacia brand) are among the few manufacturers that sell factory-fitted LPG vehicles in France. Hence the success of the Dacia Sandero, the Jogger and the Duster, offering this type of engine. However, the LPG-powered Renault Clio remains number one in this segment.

According to France Gaz Liquides, Autogas allows a saving in the fuel budget of around 35% compared to gasoline and diesel. There are 1,500 LPG stations in the country, that is 1 station in 7.
