Ecuador: Terpel opens a new fuel station to meet increasing LPG demand
The Colombian company has realized the reshaping of the mobility landscape as the growing requirement is placed on the adoption of sustainable fuels.
Xavier Granda, Terpel’s fuel manager admitted that the company had identified a rapidly growing demand within their three existing gas refuelling points located in Guayaquil, Durán and Manta. The growth is driven by the rising necessity of vehicles dedicated to mobility services, especially those linked to applications.
The facility, called ‘Pajaro Azul’ was the first of its kind in Guaranda, the capital city of the Bolívar Province, in the centre of the country. It is planned to serve 15,000 vehicles and foresees a monthly sales projection of around 150,000 gallons of fuel.
Throughout 2023, Terpel recorded sales of approximately 800,000 kg per month. Granda highlighted that the company had achieved a share of between 20 and 25% of the market.
Terpel invested USD 220,000 to inaugurate each facility. “The reception has been phenomenal”, said the manager. “Our Manta station was a pioneer in the city to offer this fuel. It has already reached an average sales of 240,000 kg per month,” Granda concluded.
In the medium and long-term future, the company plans to provide LPG to other cities such as Portoviejo, Quito, Santo Domingo and Riobamba.
Terpel began operations in 2006 in Ecuador. Nowadays, it has taken the group’s presence to Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Peru.
