Dacia Sandero becomes Spain’s best-selling car and shows a clear upward trend in ecological fuels

The third-generation model secured the top spot in 2023 and it is also crowned as the absolute leader in LPG technology in the country. Specifically, 75% of customers have chosen the Stepway design and the 100 ECO-G (LPG) engine model reached 60% of sales. It guarantees the ECO label from the DGT.

Registrations of hybrid vehicles exceeded those powered by gasoline. Dacia’s total sales nationwide in 2023 amount to 49,125 units, achieving the best market share in its history with 9%.

The Sandero model has kept leadership since 2013. A quarter of a million Spaniards have purchased one since its launch in 2008.

Particularly in Gipuzkoa (Basque Country), gas vehicles experienced even greater growth of almost 80 percentage points while, on the other hand, fossil fuels maintained their downward trend with a drop of almost six points in the case of gasoline and 14% in that of diesel.

European Union’s warnings about the impact of road transport policies on air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions are promoting clean-air zones. This is one of the reasons that persuades consumers to opt for these greener models, plus, in recent years, cleaner road vehicles and fuels have become progressively more available.
