Colombia: Governor of Arauca plans to introduce Autogas in urban transport
The Governor of the Department of Arauca Renson Martínez Prada completed a “busy productive day” in the city of Bogotá, where he joined the Minister of Mines and Energy Andrés Camacho and members of the House of Representatives of Colombia to evaluate the possibility to introduce LPG in public transport.
Martínez Prada met Chamber Representative Germán Rozó Anís, representatives of Araucana de Gases and officials from the Ministry to address issues related to the implementation and adoption of Autogas in Arauca.
One of the highlights was the planning of a pilot test that will especially benefit public transportation. Likewise, the installation of three LPG service stations is planned in Arauca, Saravena and Tame, with the objective of achieving a significant reduction that would be close to 40% in the costs of fuels, compared to petrol.
The governor also confirmed that during the meetings the attendees agreed to hold an energy summit to prioritise the most impactful projects that could be financed by the National Government and oil companies in the department of Arauca.
