Autogas vehicles now benefit from a 50% bonus in Madrid parking service

The amendments to the Regulated Parking Service (SER) of Madrid, which have been approved last 29 December 2016 at the City Hall plenary session, entered into force this month and incorporate new features such as the increase in the bonus on regulated parking rates from 20% to 50% for vehicles powered by Autogas and tariffs based on the technology and emissions of pollutants associated with the DGT (General Directorate of Traffic) environmental classification.

In order to benefit from this bonus in Madrid SER areas, the vehicle must be properly labelled by the DGT, although it is not necessary to show the adhesive. When the users enter the numbering of their registration in the parking meter, the system will consult the classification of the vehicle in the DGT database and apply the discount.

With this measure the owners of Autogas vehicles can access a new economic advantage, which adds to the possibility of circulating independently of the numbering of the registration in case of pollution scenarios (3 and 4) by nitrogen dioxide.

The Spanish Association of LPG Operators (AOGLP) has welcomed this bonus, given the low emissions of Autogas vehicles. According to Santiago Pérez, general director of the association, “Autogas is the most immediate response to sustainable mobility due to its low NOx emissions and almost zero pollutant particles.”

With over 25 million cars in circulation, of which 15 million are in Europe, Autogas is the most widely used alternative fuel in the world. In Spain there are more than 50,000 LPG-powered vehicles in operation and more than 500 refuelling stations. If you want to know more, please check this link.
