Autogas cars are eligible for tax rebates in Italy

According to Unione Nazionale Rappresentanti Autoveicoli Esteri (UNRAE) forecasts, the vehicle market is projected to witness steady growth of around 2% this year. As the Italian government’s concern pertaining to the reduction of carbon emissions remains, state incentives aimed at encouraging people to buy cleaner vehicles have been extended.

In 2023, Autogas vehicles represented 9% of registrations, double that of electric vehicles. In January 2024, two of the best-selling automobiles offer LPG as a fuel option, preferred by customers due to competitive refuelling pricing.

The leader being the Fiat Panda followed by the Dacia Sandero, that costs 14,750 euros but, with the 2,000 euros grant scheme (Ecobonus) the figure drops to 12,750 euros.

Several other vehicle models qualify for the third tranche of 2024 car incentives, with CO2 emissions between 61 and 135 g/km.

Besides the Dacia Sandero, the Japanese LPG minivan Mitsubishi Estrella Espacial stands out as well as the Kia Picanto and the Dacia Jogger, the largest and most spacious LPG car that can be purchased with the rebate.

Other models that are economically profitable for drivers are the Dacia Duster, Renault Clio, Hyundai i10, EVO3, Lancia Ypsilon, and Hyundai Bayon.
