Spanish energy company encourages drivers to use Autogas

DISA is encouraging taxi drivers to purchase vehicles powered by LPG in the Canary Islands with the DITAX Plan, an aid programme launched by the company for all drivers and operators who acquire a new Autogas car. The initiative will be in force until the end of 2017.

Those drivers who choose Autogas as the primary fuel for their professional vehicles will receive a 500 Euros incentive, which will be exchangeable to refuel at DISA and Shell service stations located in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

These aids aim to encourage the choice of fuels classified by the European Union as alternatives among public transport professionals in the Canary Islands. The main advantage for the public interest is that Autogas is more respectful of the environment. But it also has direct benefits for the urban public transport professionals since, without reducing the performance of the vehicle, it favours the conservation of the engine and allows 50% savings over other fuels.

With the DITAX Plan, the energy company will also boost the professional use of Autogas so that emissions generated by public transport can be reduced in the Canary Islands.

The first 500 Euros cheque was recently delivered to a taxi driver from San Cristóbal de la Laguna at DISA Ofra station.
